This collection of works was submitted as my final "Portfolio" for my Introductory Digital Art Class in college. I grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada, and the desert landscape is central to my idea of "home." I think is it the most beautiful type of scenery, so I wanted to incorporate it. Desert and cowboy motifs are also central to the Las Vegas identity. I loved the idea of the gold frame, inspired by artist Janine Antoni's work. I love the way it takes any leftover realism out of a work - reminding the audience that it is not grounded in reality and should be treated as a fantasy. I love skeletons and thought they were fitting for these pieces because of the dead stillness that the desert embodies. Lastly, the melting clocks represent not only the heat of the desert, but the timelessness of it - the lack of change it endures.
